Triassic Animal Pages to Color Online

The Triassic period was the first portion of the Mesozoic Era, lasting from about 248 to 206 million years ago. The Triassic period followed the Permian extinction, the biggest mass extinction in the history of the Earth. During the Triassic, dinosaurs and mammals evolved.

There was no polar ice during this time, and most of the land was desert-like; the continents were jammed together, forming the super-continent Pangaea. The Triassic period ended with a mass extinction caused by huge volcanic eruptions.

The Triassic period was followed by the Jurassic Period.

Coelophysis A late Triassic theropod, a meat-eater about 9 feet (3 m) long.

Eoraptor One of the oldest dinosaurs yet found. A small, primitive, meat-eating dinosaur with sharp teeth.
