A simile is a way of describing something by comparing it to something else, often using the word "like" or "as." For example, "He is as brave as a lion."
The word simile is pronounced SIM-il-ee.
Some common similes include:
Busy as a bee
Cold as a fish
Delicate as a flower
Fit as a fiddle
Free as a bird
Fresh as a daisy
Good as gold
Green as grass
Red as a beet
Leak like a sieve
Sleep like a baby
Silly as a goose
Hard as nails
Slow as molasses
Light as a feather
Old as the hills
Pure as snow
Red as a beet
Run like the wind
Sick as a dog
Slippery as a fish
Sly as a fox
Strong as an ox
Sturdy as an oak tree
Sweet as honey
Tall as a tree
Thick as a brick
